Another exciting week for shows here in the Big D! Check out the below list of concerts we at Gooseparty will be attending this week. Join us for some terrific evenings with some of our favorite acts!

First up is Menomena This Tuesday night at the Granada. Though they have lost a core member of the group, Brent Knopf bounced, group now is a duo, these indie rock veterans put together a really great and focused new full length, Moms. Since this show is in support of the new more aggressive release, there is no doubt their live set will be exciting.

Thursday features one of the coolest producers out their right now Paper Diamond. He’s blend of glitch-hop and dubstep always keeps the crowd on their feet. I’ve been following Paper Diamond since her first stepped on the scene and I’m glad that he’s finally starting to get some recognition. You can check him trow down Thursday night at the Granada.

Friday features a very exciting event, Index Festival, in its inaugural year. The fest features, among many others, Grimes, Heartless Bastards, Elite Gymnastics and Portugal the Man on Friday, and DIIV, Avi Buffalo, Surfer Blood, Washed Out and Cold War Kids on Saturday. The full lineup can be found on the Index Fest website. Atop my list of to-sees for this baby is the delightful and always impressive Grimes, aka Claire Boucher. With her very accessible blend of synthy-dance-pop, Grimes never fails to create a party environment. Don’t miss her, hell don’t miss Index Fest. The festival takes place at and around Trees on both Friday and Saturday. Tickets can be found here, they are very cheap but limited so get on them quickly.

Also on Saturday, but just barely conflicting with Index, is the Shearwater/Dinosaur Jr show and the Prophet Bar. If you haven’t heard either of these bands that needs to be fixed quick. Shearwater features haunting vocals from front man Jonathan Meiburg floating above epic horns and almost classical instrumental arrangements. Epic stuff, but what else should we expect from an Austin band? The other half of the bill features indie rock legends Dinosaur Jr. I’ve got to be honest I am just getting into this group and can’t wait to see their live set. They offer up some of the best guitar rock around and are so clever with lyrics that it’s tough not to fall in love immediately. Dino Jr’s new LP I Bet on Sky is one of my favorite of the year. So go check out some dad rock at Prophet Bar after Index. Tickets can still be purchased here.

Finally the last stop on our Concert Calendar this week is the much anticipated David Byrne/St. Vincent show at McFarlin Auditorium on the SMU Campus on Sunday. This is an event! This tour comes on the heels of the collaboration album the two released about a month ago, Love This Giant. The album and tour have been in the works for years and thus is hotly anticipated. Love This Giant features sultry vocals, jangly pop and bombastic horns all wrapped up into and nice neat Talking Heads styled package. This show is going to be awesome and you’d be a fool to miss. Tickets are somehow still available here, hope to see everyone out there.
